Medibank member Kim reviews the Nike+ SportWatch GPS.
Nike+ SportsWatch GPS powered by TomTom uses GPS technology and a Nike+ shoe sensor to record your run. Runners can upload captured data to Nikeplus.com to see where they ran and find new routes, compete against friends, document progress through Facebook and Twitter and receive online training tips.

How did you use the product?
I used the SportsWatch and the Nike+ shoe sensor during my training runs leading up to the Medibank Marathon. I was running three times per week in the lead up to the half marathon.
What did you like about it?
I liked the main features that let me keep track of my distance and pace while jogging. I was aiming to run at 5 min p/km pace and wearing the watch allowed to me to monitor this. I enjoyed creating new runs and knowing how far they were – I was getting bored doing the same runs and it allowed me to be a bit more creative.
Did it contribute to better health?
It kept me motivated and helped me measure and monitor my training. You can actually set a feature that reminds you if you haven’t run for a few days! I think it’s great for an amateur/novice runner to have technology to continue to improve their running.
Any tips for people who use this product?
Like a lot of products the more you use it and its features the more you will get out of it. Posting runs to Facebook or Twitter was quite motivating, especially when I got a few encouraging comments or found friends to train with.
